I drank the snake oil, and flew the Adderconda out to Borann to “get rich”. I popped in, and headed over to Borann 2 A, and came into the RES psyched to get going. Of course when I get there there’s some scurvy dicked pirate lurking around looking for easy prey. I didn’t have anything to worry about because the only cargo I had was limpets and hope, Baby! “Wait… where are the limpets?! I bought limpets!” But no, I bought limpet controllers, not limpets… Jesus, I feel lost. Haha. I retract my hard points, though it could be better described as “deflated”, and head over to the closest carrier that’s open to the public and has stock. I didn’t tell them I wasn’t “re”stocking, but I know they knew. I could feel it.

So I have my limpets and I’m ready to mine. I go back to the hotspot where that pirate still sat, like a vulture. I let him go through the paces, and began prospecting. Asteroid after asteroid is coming up duds. I followed that map to a tee, but I came up empty! I looked for the most current data available on the neuronet, and saw that Borann has been picked clean. Damn it, Glen, you fucking con-man! This ship… This “honey hole”…Ugh! I guess Col 285 Sector CC-K a38-2 is the new hot spot.

I stopped off to see my carrier friends one more time to top off those limpets (I’m only learning that mistake once), and made my way to my new destination. It was a LONG trip, and it felt like I did more fuel scooping than flying, and that’s the kind of tedium that, unknown to me, was foreshadowing this whole adventure. I got in on the sliver of hotspot overlay, and the second asteroid I prospected had LTDs! I started blasting away, and sending out collectors. I did my best to keep the collectors safe, but every few minutes I’d get a system update that I’d lost one. Eventually I was so low that I couldn’t afford to prospect with limpets anymore, so I’d blast away with my lasers, and scan chunks. I did okay with this method, but shortly after I filled my first cargo space, all my limpets were dead.

I repeated my journey of shame to a local carrier selling limpets, and restocked. I came back and got right back in the sliver. This time I didn’t get scanned by any pirates, and I thought “it’s my lucky day!” I decided I would save all my limpets for collecting this time, and got to work. This time wasn’t as bad. I didn’t find LTD asteroids super often, but I did find them, and I got to a little more than four full cargo spaces when it happened. “Ship Scan Detected”.

My heart sank. I knew things were about to get ugly. I retracted my cargo scoop, and started boosting away, then retracted my hard points. Boosted again, and started getting robbed by hatch breakers. By the time I got out of mass lock, and into hyperspace, I was down to a single stall of LTDs… All that time. All that effort. Gone. That run should have paid for the Adderconda, but instead, it just made a lousy payment.

TL;DR… I’m dumb, and Dood, fuck pirates! I got the ship ID and looked the guy up. Apparently he’s in a gang of pilots that do this all over the greater bubble area. I’m not able to make it right just yet, but it’s not over. I’ll see my revenge! Haha. I sound like a maniac. Anyways… I might sell the Adderconda. It flies like garbage, and I don’t see the point in going mining in a ship so disadvantaged. At least when I’m collecting bounties, I’m putting a stop to this kind of behavior.
